About this collection

Ray Walter Turner was born December 21, 1947 in Fargo, North Dakota.  He moved to the Pikes Region in January 1953. He attended Whittier, Old Midland School, New Midland School, West Junior High School and graduated from William Jackson Palmer High School in 1966. After serving four years in the United States Air Force, Ray returned to the Pikes Peak Region. He is a noted West Side (Colorado City) historian and serves as a consultant on topics such as historic saloons, historic pharmacies, and family liquor houses.  This eclectic mix of images covers a wide range of general topics, landmarks, and personalities of the Pikes Peak Region from the late 1800s through the 1960s.
