- A VERY Happy New Year baby rings in while Old man Lenin of the former USSR, with hammer and sickle goes out. 1
- Caption "Out with the old...in with the new!" Old man 1986 Tip O'Neill is exiting stage left saying Raise... Incoming baby Wright, saying ...Taxes. 1
- Debt policeman is taking old man 1988 in. Man says, "Good luck" to little 1989 baby. 1
- It was a tough year, with the war on inflation. Old man 1978 crawls off the stage. New baby 1979 is rolled in on a gurney. 1
- Old man 1990 is getting off stage pronto. Little baby 1991 with gas mask is being pushed on stage. Man in audience says, I don't like the looks of this." 1
- Panel 1-2. It's the old man 1970 leaving the scene with his "Me" security blanket. Hopefully, the new kid will come in with a better, healthy attitude. 1
- Panel 1-4. It's the end of the year for 1979. Man is about to open the door to 1980...but stops, and prays. Hopefully the 80s will be better. 1
- Panel 1-4. Old man, 1996, is leaving the scene. He sees President Bill Clinton (1997) running past as fast as he can...then sees Special Prosecutor, Ken Starr, hot on his heels. 1997 is looking like it might be a pretty interesting year. 1
- Panel 1-6. President Obama is the emcee of the program announcing the new year. Old man 2012, all beat up, is exiting and the little new year baby is very reluctant to come in. Audience feels they need more survival gear to get through 2013. 1
- Panel 1. It's a new year. Uncle Sam hopes to get rid of partisan bickering, activist judge, pork-barrel spending and sue-happy lawyers. Panel 2. it doesn't look like that's going to happen. 1
- Panel 1. Out with the old...Tom Foley pulls big government Capitol dome.. Panel 2. In with the NEWT...baby Gingrich comes in with Budget cutter scythe. 1
- Panel 1. Some families put their Christmas decorations away until next year. Panel 2. Some families put their Millennium decorations away. They will put them up again in 2000 (if the world doesn't end). 1
- Panel 1. Lady Liberty encourages Americans to make a new resolution. Panel 2. She is hoping we can force big, big, (obese) government (Uncle Sam) to go on a diet. (Fat chance). 1
- Polish people in food line do not see a very happy new year in 1982. 1
- The happy, little New Year baby, 2012, is missing. The economy, over regulation, and other big government blues has settled over the country. Maybe he's in the depression ward. 1
- The value of the dollar greets the new baby. 1
- What if that cute little baby ringing in the new year (1993) went missing? Babies are always cute unless they are unwanted. Again, the cartoon was too insensitive for Gazette readers. I knew when I drew it that it probably would be seen. 1
