- Husband, full battle gear, walks out the door saying he hopes to see his wife tonight. Wife's friend asks, What branch of service is your husband in?" Wife answers, "Postal service." (I think this cartoon relates to work-place violence) 1
- In the old days, Wanted Posters appeared on a bulletin board in the Post Office. The Speaker of the House, Tom Foley's face is on such a poster. He's involved in a bank cover-up, abuse of power crime, etc. plus he runs the Post Office. 1
- Mail men used to have to watch out for dogs. Now three cent postage stamp increase bring citizens to bite his legs. 1
- Mailmen arrest a woman at an Overnight Delivery Service who wanted to mail a non-urgent letter through a competitive marketplace service. 1

- Panel 1. U.S. Postal workers in a horse and buggy service offer rides for 29 cents. Fax machines, Overnight service, etc. seem to be passing them by. Panel 2. In order to compete, they raise the price of rides to 32 cents. That's better. 1
- Panel 1. Western couple hear stampede noise. Panel 2-3. Get run over by a herd of chicken littles. Panel 4. What spooked them? Postmaster couldn't guarantee safe mail. 1
- Panel 1. It used to be long lines of people would be seen at the government-run Post Office. Panel 2. If we get government-run health care, you will see more long lines. 1
- President Carter wanted to take a fishing vacation, but the problems in Washington, D.C., (Middle East Peace talks, high gas prices and postal union worker strike), dragged him back. 1
- Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev's wife asks what they would do if the people wanted TRUE reform and REAL free enterprise. What would they do then? Gorby's hope would be that he would land a job like an executive in the U.S. Post Office. 1
- Striking union postal workers holding a gun to the head of the American public might not be doing a good thing for their image as public servants delivering mail through rain, snow sleet or hail. 1
