South Catamount Reservoir, located on the North Slope of Pikes Peak, was built in 1936-37 as part of the Works Progress Administration. Its dam face is uniquely constructed of steel, one of only five such dams in the country. The reservoir was developed to supply water to Colorado Springs and surrounding areas.PhotographerunknownLocationColorado Springs (Colo.)SubjectFlood dams and reservoirsDamsReservoirsConstruction equipmentTrucksCollectionPublic Works Administration RecordsPublisherPikes Peak Library DistrictOriginal FormatPhotographsPhysical Description6 1/2 x 4 1/4 negativeGeolocation
