Image Number006-154DateSpring 1976DescriptionBlondie's gas station under a canopy of trees located at 2900 E. Platte Blvd [on northeast corner of Juniata Street] in Colorado Springs. A small stuccoed building features two Bay gas pumps under a porch awning with a "Blondie's Station" and "Bay" Petroleum Company sign mounted above. Evelyn and George Posiniak built this as their home in 1946 and installed two gas pumps in front of it. She had run several gas stations around the city and it was called Blondie's because of Evelyn's long blonde hair. After 50 years this landmark had fallen into disrepair and was sold by the owner and razed in 1996.
