Image Number006-177DateSpring 1976DescriptionChartered in 1877, this shingled shack with a brick chimney served as the OZ Post Office located southwest of Ramah along the Big Sandy River until the railroad came through and the function moved to Ramah. Located on the OZ Ranch settled by Julian Gammon and R.A. McRay before 1874, this location was on the main freight trail half-way between Colorado Springs and River Bend near Limon and this building became a post office and stage stop. Besides these functions, this one-room shack became a supply store and grocery for ranchers who came for their mail. It was also used as a blacksmith shop at which time the front porch was added.
