Image Number006-296DateSummer 1976DescriptionBalcony of a two-story stucco house supported by three columns with peeling paint located at 313 South Main Street in Fountain. A Greek or Roman frieze is mounted above the balcony under the eaves of the roof. Built in the late 19th Century, probably as a single-story adobe building, it served as a stagecoach stop for traffic along the Old Pueblo Highway. At some point a second story was added and was purchased by a doctor rumored to have performed abortions on the premises.
