Image Number006-656DateSummer 1976DescriptionTwo conjoined gambrel-roof barns with stone walls, dormers and a cupola on top are in a complex with a single-story stone-walled milking shed and a wood-frame building. A stone wall is in the foreground. This dairy on West Woodman Road was established around 1909 to serve the milk needs for the patients at the Modern Woodmen of America Sanitorium (Now Mt. St. Francis). At one time it had the largest dairy herd in Colorado and was considered the finest in the region in the 1920s and 30s. Research indicates it ceased operations in 1980 and all buildings were eventually razed for housing developments in the area. It was located approximately 800 feet east of the entrance to Mount St. Francis (W. Woodmen Road and Francisan View) and directly opposite Woodmen Valley Park on W. Woodmen Road.
