Image Number006-1074DateFall 1976DescriptionWith its Storybook architecture, this fairytale-inspired house on the grounds of the Craftwood Inn features a steeply pitched, thatched-look roof and a distressed stucco finish. Known as the “Country Store”, it served as the Craftwood Inn Store known for selling fruit cakes, peach preserves and various gifts. The Craftwood Inn, located at 404 El Paso Avenue, was originally built as a residence by Dr. Thomas in 1906 using Arts and Crafts architecture. In 1913 Cyrus Boutwell used the building for a copper-craft and silversmith shop. Because of WWI and government curtailment of copper, in 1917 Boutwell closed his shop and used it as his home. In 1924 he left for Denver and the building was used for various restaurants and event venues thereafter.
