Collection NumberMSS 0190DescriptionThis collection contains 43 of the 80 photographs that were taken in Wyoming by Charles D. Kirkland (1851-1926) in the early 1880s and originally published in an album entitled “Kirkland’s Views of Cow-Boy Life and the Cattle Business”. The overview that accompanied the album stated “The photographs were taken on the line of the Union Pacific Railroad (the Overland Route) and illustrate graphically and truthfully the cattle business of the Great West. The views have been taken instantaneously from life, and are finely finished and elegantly mounted on five-inch by eight-inch cards.”
