Collection NumberMSS 0045DescriptionRobert “Bob” McIntyre was born January 4, 1929 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He began his career in photography taking pictures for the Colorado Springs High School yearbook. After graduation, he went to work for the Pikes Peak Photo Shop. In 1949, McIntyre became the official photographer for the Broadmoor Hotel where he took publicity shots of the resort, souvenir photographs of guests, and captured candid portraits of the many high-profile guests at The Broadmoor. He also photographed the first United States Air Force Academy graduation in 1959. Although known for his portraiture work, McIntyre’s lens also captured the awe-inspiring landscapes of Colorado and Utah, as well as the dramatic January 1950 fire on Cheyenne Mountain. Bob McIntyre died March 13, 2011. Pikes Peak Library District has two collections of his work: Broadmoor photographs by Bob McIntyre, and the Bob McIntyre Collection.
