Image Number441-16Date1893-1894DescriptionCaptain Brown's Leadville Company and Company K of the Deputy Army, sent to suppress the 1894 Cripple Creek Strike, pose outdoors at Beaver Park, near Gillett, Teller County, Colorado. Mine works stand in the distance. A large group of men dressed in civilian clothing and holding rifles are standing and kneeling in a line with one individual holding an American flag blowing in the breeze. In addition, several men in civilian clothes are manning what appears to be a Colt 1877 “Bulldog” Gatling Gun (single-axle carriage model). Parked next to the Gatling gun is a horse-drawn caisson with two men sitting on the single-axle ammunition carrier and man sitting on one of the two horses. This is slightly different photographic view of image 441-15.
