C. Gordon Sweet was born April 1, 1907 in Lewiston, Michigan. He came to Colorado Springs in 1945 and began an architectural partnership with Charles E. Thomas. Thomas was a well-known architect who had previously partnered with the nationally-known architect Thomas MacLaren. Gordon Sweet was very active in civic and professional organizations. He was appointed by the governor to the Colorado State Board of Examiners of Architects where he served as both a member and its president. He was an active member of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and also served on the board of directors of the Colorado Springs Society of American Institute of Architects. Remembered as one the most prominent architects in Colorado Springs, Gordon Sweet died June 21, 1970.
