Image Number042-116Dateca. 1938DescriptionA bartender poses for a photo at the rustic log-cabin debarked wood environs of the Broadmoor Café Bar at the Broadmoor Ice Arena [first Broadmoor World Arena]. Three large mirrors hang behind the bar reflecting the interior of the café bar and adjacent ice rink on the right. Four U.S. flags hang from wooden posts. Research indicates that the first Broadmoor World Arena was a skating rink and hockey arena located at the Broadmoor Resort. Originally an outdoor equestrian center and riding academy, a building was constructed over the area and converted into an ice arena which opened in January 1938.PhotographerPhoto Craft ShopLocationColorado Springs (Colo.)SubjectBars (drinking establishments)Broadmoor World Arena (Colorado Springs, Colo.)Notes Thanks to J Richards of Colorado Springs for background research on this image.
