Lansing (1845-1889) moved to Colorado in 1874 and was listed as secretary of the Colorado Midland Railway in the 1886 Colorado Springs City Directory. That year he married Sarah M. “Sallie” Macklin (1857-1946) and evidently moved into this residence soon after the wedding. Abby Lansing Kernochan was the daughter of Charles A. and Sarah Lansing and grew up in this house. Following his death from tuberculosis on December 9, 1889, his wife and children continued to live in this house until about 1910 at which time they moved to a house at 1215 Wood Avenue.
